long ago from the primordial ooze
we rose up dripping ripe
with the briny stench of ocean piss
happy and dumb until time a toxic sludge
smothered us in modernity and left
a deadzone world slick with oil and ash
world of stagnant waters where we float
like plastic bags washed out by rain
adrift forever as living flotsam
tetherless world a floating birthday balloon
littering the frozen cosmic landfill
with memories of a child’s fleeting joy
world carved like a butchered pig
by slaughterhouse kings and tycoon presidents
into nationstates of loins and shoulders
roasted world of insatiable appetites
where in sparerib cities to the sound of trumpets
we devour the flesh of forgotten massacres
toilet world where we flush the social refuse
away to the triumphal sewer of human science
where the excrement of knowledge stews
trafficked world of graveyard highways
noisy with the bootsteps of marching ants
and putrid infantries of corpses chanting
noxious world where we frolic in wasted Amazons
breathing giddy hypoxia of algae blooms
adorned with the chic byproducts of smog
suffocating the stratosphere in stylish fumes
the deadly fragrance of our consumption wafts us
toward the boiling world in which we die
